Rotating bed is also known as high gravity bed.It is a new and high-efficient gas liquid contactor,which can significantly intensify the process of mass transfer through centrifugal field instead of the gravitational field.The dynamic seal is compulsory between the rotor and the gas outlet pipe of the RPB as it has direct influence on the mass transfer efficiency of the equipment.With the air and water system,the air leakage flow rate in the dynamic seal was investigated with the pressure difference and the experimental results were compared with CFD simulation.Multilayer concentric rings rotating bed was designed which was developed based on rotating zigzag bed and used centrifugal seal,to investigate factors of pressure drop and power consumption.The experiment indicates five results:(1)The centrifugal seal without blades can resist 25 kPa pressure drop and the leakage flow rate is less than 0.2L/h.and the experimental data of the critical pressure drop is relatively consistent with CFD simulation data.When blades were added in the device,the critical pressure drop increased substantially,and the leakage flow rate also enhanced.In order to decrease that leakage flow,the height of sealing area was necessary to decrease.(2)The critical pressure drop was proportional to the density of seal liquid,whereas not affected by the viscosity.But the viscosity of seal liquid can influence the leakage flow rate.(3)It is shown that the leakage flow rate was inversely proportional to operating times with same rotating speed;while it increased as rotating speed grew under same pressure drop.If the pressure drop was raised and the rotating speed kept,the leakage flow rate would increase firstly and then decrease.(4)The pressure drop of multilayer concentric rings rotating bed would increase as the super gravity factor increased,and also had a proportion to the rotating speed.Before the flooding appeared,the spray density had a slight effect on the pressure drop.The experimental consequences were estimated by regression analysis to gain the pressure drop correlation equation,showing that the average deviation was less than 15%.(5)The power of multilayer concentric rings rotating bed was examined.It indicated a comparative relationship to the rotating speed and liquid flow,and a decrease when gas flow increased.The regression analysis was also used on that experiment.Then a power consumption correlation equation was presented in the paper,within a 20% average deviation.
