With the growing of eutrophic water body,the sewage plant of nitrogen and phosphorus emissions requirements higher and higher.The hazard of ammonia is the greatest impact in each type of ammonia.It's the sign of water contamination.The harm of ammonia nitrogen in water ecological environment has many aspects.Ammonia is a major ozone-depleting pollutants in water.The oxidative decomposition of ammonia consume the dissolved oxygen in water.Ammonia made the water become black and smelly.And ammonia is the nutrition in water.It can provide the nutrient source for algae growth,it leads to the occurrence of eutrophication.Reducing the pollution load of ammonia in water will reduce the total nitrogen in water directly,that is good at relieving the eutrophication in lakes and reservoirs.Therefore,study of a low energy process to treat the nitrogen-containing water is meaningful.Anaerobic ammonia oxidation(ANAMMOX)as a novel technology for biological nitrogen removal comparing with conventional denitrification process,it has the advantages of saving oxygen consumption,no need to add the organic carbon source,low sludge production,high substrate removal and so on.It has become hot spots in domestic and international research.Domestic and foreign scholars have done a large number of laboratory investigation and engineering research,and have obtained remarkable achievements,in the 20 years.Holland,Sweden and other countries have been applied to the practical engineering,and have achieved excellent social benefits.But our country has only gone ahead with the initial pilot study phase currently.Since it is difficult to form a granular sludge,resulting in anaerobic ammonium oxidation process takes longer to start and limiting the anammox technology in practical applications.In order to study the method to shorted the start-up of the anammox process,the paper used two different sets of UASB reactors to start up the anammox reaction,named R1 and R2,To Reactor R1,activated carbon is added and to Reactor R2,no filler is added.Starting-up the reactors at the temperature of about 30?40 ?,pH about 7?8 conditions,and compared the different between the two anammox reactors in startup characteristics and the start time.Two reactors were reacted under the exclusion of light.The results showed that,R1 finished the startup after138 days,and R2 finished the startup after 174 days,respectively.The removal rate of NH4+,NO2-and TN are 95.77%?97.50%and 84.80%.R1 reactor,respectively.And the removal rate of NH4+,NO2-and TN are 92.72%?95.68%and 83.91%.There are red granular sludge in two UASB reactor.When the reactor was stabilized,investigated the effects of temperature and pH on denitrification performance of the anammox UASB reactor.The result shows that,when the temperature is 35 ?,the removal rate of ammonia and nitrite is the highest,the removal rate is 90.94%and 91.97%,respectively;The main reason is low temperature resulted the low rate of anammox and when the temperature is too high,the anammox activity is inhibited.When the pH value is 7.5,the ammonia and nitrite nitrogen removal rate reached the highest,the removal rate is 88.54%and 87.60%,respectively,the anammox bacteria's matrix in reactor is ammonia and nitrite,the main influence in anammox process is that pH influenced the bacteria and matrix.The results showed that adding activated carbon particles can shorten UASB anammox reactor start-up time;When the temperature is 35 ?,pH value is 7.5,the reactor has a good performance in nitrogen removal.
