Ultra-thick slab continuous casting is an important direction of the development of the continuous casting-Compared with the conventional slab,the ultra-thick slab has a low casting speed,large latent heat of solidification and long liquid sump,which is easy to cause a variety of casting defects.The scholars at home and abroad are actively research to improve the production of ultra-thick slab.In this paper,the numerical simulation on heat flow and stress in ultra-thick slab Continuous Casting Mold is studied.The main research work and conclusions are as follows:Firstly,a two-dimensional flow,heat transfer and solidification coupling mathematical model of ultra-thick slab mold is established.According to the characteristics of the thick slab section size,the heat flux of ultra-thick slab continuous casting mold is written by UFD.Therefore,the heat transfer condition in mold can be calculated more accuratly.Secondly,a numerical model of thick slab continuous casting mold is set up.FLUENT software is used to simulate the temperature and flow field in the mold and the temperature and flow field distribution in the mold are analyzed.The influence of superheat,nozzle immersion depth and casting speed on the high temperature distribution,shell thickness,flow impact,meniscus fluctuation in mold are studied.The rule of the flow and temperature field in ultra-thick slab mold of different ingot specification is analyzed.The results show that flow field and temperature field in the mold is more reasonable in the case of super heat,immersion depth,casting speed are20 k,120mm,0.5 m/min respectively.Based on conform theory,a 1:0.55 mold model was established in this paper.Using the physical simulation which consisted of the level fluctuation,the state of slag blanket,the slag entrapment and the impact depth etc,this paper researched how the casting speed,immerged depth influence the mold flow field.At the same time,by comparing the experimental results with the simulation flow field,the accuracy of the model of heat transfer and solidification in the mould was verified from the side.
