Since the concept of 'oxide metallurgy' was proposed, more and more researchers have paid much attention to this new metallurgical technology, since it can effectively reduce the negative effect of the inclusion and improve the mechanical properties. This technology is using the fine oxide inclusions to refine the grain and improve its strength and toughness.Till now, several scientific problems are still not clear, such as the mechanisms and the affecting factors of nucleation. The thermodynamic precipitation behaviors of inclusions in steels are firstly studied.Secondly, the characteristics, phenomena and mechanism of induced nucleation of inclusions in steels have been analyzed. Finally, the exploratory statistical laws of ability for inclusion induced nucleation have been explored. The conclusions are summarized as follows:1)The thermodynamic calculation shows that a high oxygen concentration in molten steel should be controlled to generate a large number of Ti2O3 inclusions.2)An adding of Ti can refines the inclusions in steels.Substantial IAF structures induced by the Ti-containing inclusion can induce the IAF and Mn-depletion zone may the possible mechanism.3)There is no direct relevance between MnS and induced nucleation.4)The ability of induced nucleation of the Ti-containing inclusions is certainly random.
