With the development of aviation,national defence,high-speed train and other vehicles,the aluminum alloys have changed rapidly in high technology areas.Vanadium-the vital national strategic metal resources-has been widely used in the aluminum alloy,which become an important mean to improve the microstructure and properties of alloy.With the increasing consumption of energy and metal mineral resources,abundant Al alloy containing vanadium in the world are paid more attention among public because of the good preference,which expands the application field of Al-V alloy greatly and shows a huge development and application prospect.V,as a vital alloying element,not only can improve the hardness and tensile strength of aluminum alloy,but also can improve the corrosion resistance.So V serves as the alloying element to the pure aluminum in this study,and the liquid aluminum reduction smelting process is selected creatively to produce Al alloy containing low content of V.The influence of V on the microstructure,mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of Al-V alloys by optical microscopy(OM),Scanning electronic microscopy(SEM),mechanical properties testing and electrochemical workstation.The results reveal as follow:(1)It is possible for smelting process to produce Al-V alloy.When smelting temperature is 1150℃ and V2O5 addition amount is 5.5%and hold time is 6h the liquid aluminum reduction smelting process is able to produce Al-V alloy,and the V content is about.4.5%.(2)As-cast alloy is composed of α-Al,Al21V2 and Al45V7.The high temperature nonstationary phase Al45V7 all become Al21V2 after homogenization treatment.(3)The mechanical properties of Al-V alloy indict that:The addition of V can clearly improve the hardness,tensile strength and yield strength.But the elongation is decreased obviously.With the content of V increasing from 0 to 1.2%,the hardness is increase from 28.90HV to 50.20HV;The tensile strength is increase from 58MPa to 183MPa and the yield strength is increase from 22MPa to 162 MPa.(4)The corrosion resistance of Al-V alloy first decrease and finally increase with the content of V increasing.The corrosion resistant performance is weakest when the V content is 0.7%,the weight corrosion rate and electrochemical corrosion rate,0.589 g·m-1 a and 0.0413g·m-2·h,respectively,achieve to the fast.With the increase of V levers continue to 1.2%the weight corrosion rate is reduced by 68.65%.In a word,the corrosion rate decreases gradually and the corrosion performance is getting better and better.
