Mould known as a key technology in manufacturing industry is widely used in making forming products.During the mould surface processing,polishing has important influence on the mould service life and quality.Recently,more attention is paid on free-form surface design to improve the competitiveness of mould products,contributing to high demands on mould polishing.At present,free-form surface mould polishing mainly relys on inefficient hand works,leading to bad polishing trajectory uniformity as well as unstable polishing quality,which restricts the development sacle and speed.Hence,in-depth research based on automatic polishing theory and technology for mould free-form surface process starts us in the face.This article is aimed at the hot issues for automatic polishing of mould,based on the study of the National Natural Science Foundation of China(Grant No.51375361),Research of the novel elastic abrasive polishing technique for free-form surface mould is proposed.This technology used in the elastic polishing wheel tool,in the polishing process with the mould free-form surface to form a large area of profiled contact,can be changed abrasive cutting direction and different trajectories polishing at any time.It is ensured the efficiency of material removal,meanwhile,improve the polishing trajectories uniformity,obtain high quality surfaces.Its quantitative controllable material removal characteristics,can achieve free-form surface mould automatic polishing.The main task of this subject is to study the material removal theory and polishing process of elastic polishing wheel tool.Firstly,according to the movement characteristics and polishing process requirements,design a flexible rotary wheel tool with revolving compound motion,the tool can adjust the direction of abrasive cutting,perform varying trajectories polishing;Secondly,based on the Hertz contact theory,the pressure distribution model of the polishing contact area and the velocity distribution model is established;According to the relative motion model of the multiple particles,the motion trajectory equation of the abrasive grains relative to the polishing contact zone is established by the repeated uniformity of the polishing trajectory analysis.And the variation coefficient is introduced to evaluate the uniformity of the polishing trajectory.It revealed the influence of the speed ratio on the uniformity of the polishing trajectory;Then the theoretical model of material removal function is established based on Preston theory,and the simulation analysis is carried out;In the following,the correctness of the theoretical model of material removal function is verified and the effects of four main process parameters on surface roughness and material removal rate were studied by orthogonal experiment.And then,the optimum combination of process parameters and the efficiency of the polishing method which are validated by the test.Finally,this paper explores the key technical problems of automatic polishing.
