Since the 70 s,the development of software technology has developed rapidly.General chemical engineering process simulation software appeared and became the necessary tools in chemical engineering design,simulation and optimization gradually.Every software had its own specialized technology,but could not be compatible with each other.In order to get the best results,more than one software should be used.Therefore,out of the demand of integration between chemical engineering simulation softwares,European Union developed and put forward the CAPE-OPEN(Computer-Aided Process Engineering Open Simulation Environment)standard at the end of last 80 s.Phase equilibrium calculation is the foundation of chemical process simulation calculations and vapor-liquid-liquid system is widely found in chemical,chemical engineering,oil refining and other fields.Therefore,it is of great significance to study algorithms of vapor-liquid-liquid equilibrium and develop a vapor-liquid-liquid separation module which conforms to CAPE-OPEN standards to accelerate the development of chemical engineering simulation software and save social resources.Algorithms of vapor-liquid-liquid separation which had been published was studied.Besides,based on the CAPE-OPEN standard,using object-oriented technology,a vapor-liquid-liquid separation module was developed by Visual C++.The algorithms of vapor-liquid-liquid equilibrium could be divided into three categories: equilibrium constant method,Gibbs free energy minimum method and ? factor method.The advantages and disadvantages of the algorithms were compared and analyzed.The mathematical models were summarized and the algorithms of different mathematical models were discussed.According to the CAPE-OPEN standard,five types of flash calculations were developed: temperature-pressure flash,temperature-enthalpy flash,pressure-enthalpy flash,temperature-gasification rate flash and pressure-gasification rate flash.Common vapor-liquid-liquid separation problems could be solved with it.Graphic user interface was developed to input module data.The dynamic link library files obtained by compilation could be loaded in software which support CAPE-OPEN standard,such as Aspen Plus,Hysys,etc.The loading and calling of the vapor-liquid-liquid module was realized successfully in simulation softwares which supporting CAPE-OPEN standard.The vapor-liquid-liquid separation module developed in this paper was tested by examples.The results show that the unit module was accurate and reliable.The development of vapor-liquid-liquid separation module based on CAPE-OPEN standard is of basic scientific significance and practical value.More work should be done to research the CAPE-OPEN standard and develop new multiphase separation algorithms.
