Cold rolled non-oriented silicon steel is widely used in the manufacture of motors,generators and other household appliances,transverse thickness difference is an important quality index of cold rolled non-oriented silicon steel strip.Transverse thickness difference of silicon steel strip has impact on the performance of the motor core,even heat and efficiency of the entire product,transverse thickness difference of silicon steel would be even more demanding.Transverse thickness difference of silicon steel depends on both the incoming hot-rolled strip crown and the edge drop of cold rolled strip.In the hot rolling stage,the hot-rolled strip crown is always able to meet the demand,so transverse thickness difference of cold rolled silicon steel depends on edge drop of cold rolling process.In this paper,taking the UCM six-high rolling mill of A steel factory as the research object,pointed out the problem of the edge drop control in production of cold rolled non-oriented silicon steel for UCM mill.Through analysis and research the mechanisms of the edge drop to determine the factors of the edge drop in the process of UCM mill cold rolling.In this paper,combining the characteristics of Pro/E and ANSYS Workbench,three-dimensional Pro/E software was adopted to build a solid model for the roll stacks of the six-high rolling mill and silicon steel strips,then the solid model is introduced into ANSYS Workbench software to carry out the finite element modeling,The factors which affected the strip edge drop such as the rolling force,the bending strength and the roll shifting were analyzed,obtained the influence of these factors change on edge drop.In order to solve the edge drop of non-oriented silicon steel strip in the process of UCM mill cold rolling,the original UCM mill was transformed in a steel factory,by increasing the work roll shifting and the new work roll shape which using Edge Variation Contact(EVC)to control the edge drop of silicon steel strip,it is proved by comparing the physical steel strip shape and the random sample measurement that the control performance of the transformation UCM mill for edge drop is increased.
