The strength and toughness of polymer composites are two main performance index in the industry.PA6 is a kind of widely applied engineering material and is usually used to be toughened by rubber.Meanwhile,the addition of rubber will in the contrast decrease the mechanical strength of PA6.This project aims to synthesize PA6/MBS/DGEBA/OMMT nanocomposite system.Here,PA6 is the composite matrix,rubber particles(MBS)with core-shell structure is toughening agent that was synthesized by emulsion polymerization,bisphenol-A epoxy resin(DGEBA)functions as compatibilizer and organic montmorillonite(OMMT)is reinforcement that was treated by cationic surfactant in the system.Generally speaking,there are about four main contents in these experiments in the following paragraphs.1.With the addition of compatibilizer DGEBA,the impact behavior of blends increases with the increasing epoxy grades.Meanwhile,the E-20 DGEBA plays an important function in enhancing the compatibility and mechanical properties of blending system.In terms of PA6/MBS blending system,the E-20 DGEBA performs the best mechanical properties with the content of 1 wt%.2.Separately adding DGEBA and OMMT with different amounts into the PA6/MBS/DGEBA/OMMT nanocomposite system.It is easily to observe that E-3 DGEBA with the content of 3 wt% behaves the best impact strength and toughness for the nanocomposite system.At the same time,the 1 wt% of OMMT shows the most desirable mechanical behaviors to the system.3.Synthesizing MBS rubber particles with different core-shell ratios.Then,blend the MBS particles with PA6,OMMT and DGEBA.Consequently,the final characterizations and mechanical results reveal that MBS particles appear the most effective mechanical properties with the 70/30 core-shell ratio.4.Respectively discussing the toughening of active bulk rubber and core-shell rubber particles.Here,maleic anhydride branched ethylene-symplectic dilute copolymer(EOR-g-MA)and MBS/DGEBA blends were adopted into the research for comparision.The impact results indicate that the toughening of MBS/DGEBA blends behaves better than EOR-g-MA.
