Particle swarm optimization(PSO)is a kind of swarm intelligence algorithm inspired by the foraging behavior of bird flocking,proposed by Eberhart and Kennedy in 1995.In particle swarm optimization algorithm,the location of the food was regarded as the possible solution of optimization problem,while the particle was led toward the possible solutions with sharing the information and the cooperation mechanism to eventually find the global optima solution.PSO has received widespread attention for its simple structure,fast convergence speed and easy implementation.It has developed as an important branch of evolution algorithm,successfully applied to many domains.Although scholars had put forward some kinds of improved particle swarm optimization algorithm and get satisfactory searching ability,there are still some disadvantages in its utilization,such as the premature convergence and slow convergence speed when facing the multi-modal or high-dimensional optimization problems.A novel ecological pyramid particle swarm optimization variant wasproposed to solve the above problems and it was also applied to the extraction optimization of collagen from eggshell membrane.The main contents of this research are as follows:1.A novel ecological pyramid particle swarm optimization variant was proposed to deal with the high dimension,complex optimization problems,the ecological pyramid system was introduced to improve the particle's diversity.At the same time,the variation both on the local exemplar and the global exemplar was also employed to extend the search space.To verify the effectiveness of the algorithm,fifteen benchmark problems were used to test the performance of EP-PSO.Compared with other algorithms,experimental results validated the outstanding performance of EP-PSO.It not only obtained high accuracy solutions,but also achieved high efficiency and reliability.2.With the development of biological science,researchers paid much more attention on the collagen.In this paper,we applied EP-PSO to the extraction optimization of collagen from eggshell.It validated the outstanding performance of EP-PSO and got satisfactory results.According to the experiments,NaOH concentration,alkali treatment time,enzyme concentrationand hydrolysis time were the main factors in the collagen extraction form eggshell.And the best combination was NaOH concentration(A):0.7mol/L~0.8mol/L,alkali treatment time(B):12h~18h,enzyme concentration(C):15U/mg~50U/mg and hydrolysis time:36h~48h for the maximum extraction efficiency.
