The construction of supramolecular structures is mainly dependent on non-covalent forces between molecules, such as hydrogen bonds, van der Waals forces and charge transfer, etc. And the the hydrogen bonding interactions are the strongest of the non-covalent interactions and are highly directional. For this, hydrogen bonding has been called “universal role in supermolecule”.Small organic molecules containing complementary functional groups are employed as tectons and building blocks to synthesize organic crystalline material with specific structures through supramolecular self-assembly and hydrogen-bonding interactions. In this dissertation, three series of supramolecular compounds have been synthesized by conventional solution or solvothermal method, taking Bronsted acids(HA)and bases(B)as the main raw material. We systematically studied their crystal structure, and explored the role of intermolecular hydrogen bonding in crystal packing. The main contents are as follows:First, eight supramolecular salts have been synthesized by the self-assembly of 1-(4-pyridyl)piperazine and different kinds of inorganic anions. The topology and nature of anion act as the dominant factor in the crystallization process and induce the formation of diverse supramolecular structures through hydrogen bonding interactions.Second,aminoacetonitrile,18-crown-6 and a variety of anions have been utilized to construct together, preparing eight host-guest supramolecular salts. And the crystal packings in these compounds are mainly governed by the strong hydrogen bonding interactions and stabilized by weak hydrogen bonding interactions. Finally, four supramolecular salts have been obtained based on the primary amine p-Xylylenediamine and organic/inorganic acid.Among them, the anions and the cations form many kinds of hydrogen-bonding rings and chains via intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions. In summary,a variety of supramolecular salts have been synthesized based on hydrogen bonds. These salts exhibit different supramolecular architectures,a wide variety of hydrogen-bonding ring motifs and interesting substructures, which provide a wealth of information about the rational design of supramolecular assemblies and allow us to better understand both competitive and complementary effect between strong and weak hydrogen bonds interactions in crystal engineering and supramolecular chemistry.
