Research On City Furniture Design Under The Background Of Regional Culture

With the trend of social property and culture developing,people are paying more attention to the improvement and evolution of public facilities as well as the rapid urban development.As the link between human and city surroundings,urban furniture plays a more and more important role in the development of modern society.This dissertation starts with the research of urban furniture design which is based on regional culture.It explores the development status of urban furniture in Chongqing City through investigation,aiming to finding out various problems caused by the lack of geographical culture of urban furniture.Then summarizes by how to design urban furniture which has geographical and cultural characteristics.The hypothesised argument is that during city developing,integrating geographical and cultural characteristics into urban furniture design is an effect method to demonstrate the uniqueness of a city.Based on the current situation,the dissertation will conclude with the fundamental strategies of urban furniture design,in order making a useful research and design practice for the future of cultural urban furniture and landscape design.This dissertation discusses through the logic of questions proposal,analyses and solutions.Firstly,the background,significance,content and methods are going to be expounded in order to figuring out the framework.National and international research and practice outcomes will also be introduced.Secondly,the concepts which are involved in this dissertation are going to be clarified and explained.Thirdly,there is an analysis of the current situation of Chongqing regional culture and urban furniture development.Combining with the outstanding international cases studies and on-site investigation,the problem of lacking regional cultural characteristics inside urbanfurniture will be found out and discussed.Finally,the graduation design will practice the opinions which are talked above,exploring the necessity and feasibility of integrating Chongqing regional culture into the design of local urban furniture.The content of this dissertation combines tightly with the wharf culture of Ciqikou area in Chongqing,following with the principles of regional priority,systematic design,synchronous update and innovation optimization.Integrating the elements,symbols and materials of traditional Ciqikou wharf culture into the design of local urban furniture and landscape;Using the expression methods of metaphor,abstraction and scenic representation to connect the past,the present and the future.By making all above efforts in urban furniture design,the unique charm of Ciqikou wharf culture and the distinctive appearance of Chongqing city will be fully reflected.
