Oil swelling rubber(OSR)is one of new functional polymer oil absorption materials,which blended by rubber matrix and non-polar oleophilic component.It has a great elasticity,as well as a rapidly expanding volume after oil absorption.Besides,OSR also owns a stable oil retention property under certain pressure.In this study,short branched-chain oil absorption resin was copolymerized by methyl methacrylate(MMA)and butyl acrylate(BA)monomers.In order to study the copolymer formula ratio of monomers and the effects of styrene,crosslinking agent,initiator and dispersant on oil absorption performance and thermal stability,the resin was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FT-IR)and Thermogravimetric(TG)and Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM),respectively.The KH570,contained unsaturated double bonds,was used to modify the resin by copolymerization.The modified resin was blend-vulcanized with butadiene rubber.By using rotorless vulcanizer,rubber processing analyzer,universal material testing machine and scanning electron microscope,the influencing factors on the performance of styrene butadiene rubber were observed according to the vulcanizing,mechanical,swelling and rheological properties.The main results are as followed:1.The experimental results showed that the best synthetic formula ratio for the monomers is BA/MMA = 2.The amount of styrene,Divinyl benzene,Benzoyl peroxide,polyvinyl alcohol were 15%,0.5%,0.75%,1.5% of monomer mass fraction,respectively.The oil absorption rate of the resin towards carbon tetrachloride,xylene,oil can reach 15,7.6 and 7.2 g/g,respectively.The initial decomposition temperature of the resin is 373.3 °C.By using KH570 copolymerization to modify the resin,the oil absorption performance almost maintains,however,the surface porous structure of the resin increased,in addition to an increased initial decomposition temperature,383.9 °C.2.The conventional vulcanization(CV),efficient vulcanization(EV),semi-efficient vulcanization(SEV)and sulfur-free vulcanization(SFV)systems were investigated in this study.From the comprehensive performance comparison,the use of semi-effective vulcanization system could obtain the best overall performance rubber,which showed a tensile strength of 12.63 MPa,204.7% and 170.3% oil absorption rate of p-xylene and gasoline,respectively.3.Carbon black reinforcing could improve the mechanical properties of rubber,but the oil absorbency reduced.On contrary,resin could improve the oil absorption properties of rubber,but the mechanical properties reduced.The aramid fiber was used to improved the pre/post-swelling mechanical properties of rubber in this study.When the dosage of fiber is four,On the direction of fiber orientation,the tensile strength of rubber was 7.46 MPa,and the oil absorption rate of xylene,gas were211.5% and 159.91%,respectively.The post-swelling rubber showed a tensile strength of 1.836 MPa and a crack growth rate of 63.18%,which guaranteed the rubber would not easily break by the external forces.From the analysis of the microstructures,a good adhesion property of resin,fiber and rubber matrix was confirmed.
