With the development of the times,protective equipment is continuously updated.The helmets play an important role as the main protective equipment in the fields of military,sports,transportation and construction.High-performance fiber woven fabrics are used for the development of protective textiles due to their structural properties with high strength and high modulus.The fiber bundles in the thickness direction of the three-dimensional woven fabric make the anti-delamination performance and impact resistance of the three-dimensional fabric composite material more excellent,which makes it in the field of protection(such as bulletproof,riot,etc.)has been widely used.Para-aramid fiber and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber can be woven.Their woven fabric reinforced composites have a high impact resistance,are suitable for the production of helmet shell.Based on the fabric basic organization structure of three-dimensional angle-interlock longitudinal,weaving the 3-layer,5-layer,7-layer and 9-layer of angle-interlock 3D fabrics on sample weaving machine respectively.The fiber materials are 1500 D untwisted aramid kevlar fiber filament produced by the United States DuPont and 1500 D untwisted ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber filament produced by China respectively.At the same time,weaving the aramid plain fabric to compare.It is found that the vacuum assisted resin transfer molding process(VARTM)is more suitable for the composite processing of fabric preforms.In the process of VARTM composite technology,epoxy resin as matrix material,acetone as diluent,triethylene tetramine as curing agent and the nine different fabrics as reinforced materials respectively.Finally,twelve different three-dimensional woven fabric composites were prepared.In this paper,the tensile properties,impact properties and bending properties of twelve kinds of three-dimensional woven fabric composites were tested respectively.The composite helmet shell was fabricated by using the structure of aramid 5-layer angle-interlock woven fabric.Through the transformation of the machine,the 5-layer angle-interlock wide fabric which be made of the 1500 D untwisted aramid kevlar fiber has been woven.Using the forming technique of vacuum assisted resin transfer molding to complete the preparation and molding of the wide fabric by carefully laying it inside the helmet shell mold.In the final product,the fabric is not wrinkled.The final product is smooth appearance without bubbles,light and practical.
