4,2': 6',4''-terpyridin has become a hot research topic in electrochromic materias due to its unique chemical structure and good electrochromic properties.In this thesis,a series of 4,2': 6',4"-terpyridine derivatives functionlized with esters were synthesized through esterification of 4-([4,2': 6',4''-terpyridin]-4'-yl)phenol and 4-([4,2': 6',4''-terpyridin]-4'-yl)benzoic acid,and their structures were characterized.The electrochromic properties were studied.The specific research contents are described as follows:In Chapter One,firstly,the types of discoloration materials were outlined.The relationship between the corresponding discoloration materials and the life was introduced.The classification of electrochromic materials was outlined.The electrochromic device(ECD)structure and related preparation method were briefly described.The progress of current research on electrochromic materials was summarize.The applications of electrochromic technology in the life were listed.Secondly,the research progress of tripyridine derivatives and ester organic electrochromic materials were summarized.Finally,the purpose and significance of this thesis are proposed.In Chapter Two,nine esters were synthesized by esterification reaction of 4-(4 '-[4,2': 6 ',4'-tripyridine] phenol with nine carboxylic acids.Twenty-seven tripyridine salt derivatives were synthesized by the substitution reaction of the nine esters with three haloalkanes.Their structures were confirmed by 1H NMR,13 C NMR,LC-MS,etc.Their electrochromic properties of the derivatives were studied.These compounds exhibited dual colored states under two different applied voltageswith good cycling stability.The influence of different substituents on the electrochromic properties was discussed.In Chapter Three,six esters were synthesized by acylation and esterification with 4-(4 '-[4,2': 6 ',4 "-terpyridine] benzoic acid with six alcohols.Eighteen tripyridine salt derivatives were synthesized by substitution reaction of six esters with three haloalkanes.,Their structures were confirmed by 1H NMR,13 C NMR,LC-MS,etc.The electrochromic properties of these compounds were investigated.The influence of different substituents on the electrochromic properties was discussed.The stability of the compounds was improved compared to these compounds in Chapter Two.The may be attributed to the broadened conjugation range of the carboxylic acid compounds.In Chapter Four,the main results and conclusions of this full thesis were summarized,and some recommendations of this research is given for further development.
