Steel/nylon sandwich plate has a lot of good characteristics,such as high specific rigidity,high specific strength,energy absorption and shock absorption.They can be used in high-tech domain,such as ship protection,marine protection,building protection,automobile protection and so on.As an anti-impact composite material,it is inevitable to suffer from the impact loading of different kinds of projectiles and missiles.Therefore,only when we master its anti-impact performances,its own protective ability can be fully developed.Firstly,obtain the constitutive parameters of steel and nylon by using universal testing machine and split Hopkinson pressure bar.Secondly,the experiment and simulation research of steel plate,nylon plate and steel/nylon sandwich plate is carried to analysis the dynamic impact process of projectile penetrating the target.The ballistic limit and energy absorption of sandwich plate can obtained from the process.Finally,analysis the dynamic process of steel/nylon sandwich plate in air blast loading by using numerical simulation method.The main research work and conclusions are as follows:(1)The quasi-static mechanical properties of face plate(A3 steel)and core material(PA6 nylon)under quasi-static conditions was carried out by universal test machine.Then with split hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB),the dynamic compressing experiment of PA6 under different strain rates is carried to study the dynamic mechanical properties.These parameters are served for numerical simulation;(2)Experimental principle of penetration experimental device reformed from split hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)experiment are introduced.Steel plate,nylon plate and steel/nylon sandwich plate are penetrated by this device,then observe and analysis the failure mode of the target;(3)Use LS-DYNA software to simulate the penetration process under the same conditions of experiment to prove the correctness of simulation method.By comparing residual velocity,ballistic limit and energy absorption of different sandwich plates,which impacted by different projectiles,the influence of projectile's shape,face-sheet thickness and core thickness on penetration performances can be obtained.Then compare the energy absorption coefficient of steel plate and steel/nylon sandwich plate,it turns out that steel/nylon sandwich plate has better energy absorption capability;(4)Use LS-DYNA software to simulate the explosion in air and the response of steel plate under explored loading.And it is proved to be effective by compared the experience results and experimental results.Energy absorption of equal mass steel plate and steel/nylon sandwich plate under the same explored loading are compared,it turns out that sandwich plate has better energy absorption capability.The response condition of different sandwich plates under the same explored loading are compared to provide the design basis of explosion protection structure.
