Kapok fiber is a kind of natural fiber raw material.It can be biodegraded without secondary pollution to the environment.The oil absorption of kapok fiber is high because of its large hollow and thin wall.The testing dust used in DHC testing determined by air filtration testing standards are all solid particles at present.However,the particulate pollutants in the actual atmospheric environment are not only dust and other solid particles,but also oil and other liquid particles.In this paper,the filtration performance of kapok fiber was studied.The solid/liquid mixed dust loading testing method was analyzed.This provides the reference for the development of high performance air filter media and the revision of air filtration testing standards.Firstly,the characteristics and papermaking performance of kapok fiber were analyzed in this paper.And then,the influence of kapok fiber on the structure and properties of sheet was studied.After that,the single filter media dust holding capacity testing rig was designed and modified to realize the testing and analysis of the solid/liquid mixed dust loading performance of filter media.Lastly,the solid/liquid mixed dust loading performance of filter paper consisted of kapok fiber was researched.Thesis research content and important results are shown as following:1.The characteristics and papermaking performance of kapok fiber were studied.The results showed that the surface of kapok fiber was very smooth,and the cross-section of most fiber was likely oval and the elliptical axis ratio of most fiber was about 2:1 ~ 4:1.It was a hollow and thin wall structure and the wall thickness was about 1?m and the hollowness was about 80%.After pretreatment,kapok fiber was changed from the dry ribbon to the cylindrical tube and the inner cavity was enlarged and fiber became more regular and straight.The fiber dispersed better.The adsorption capacity of kapok fiber of oil was the largest followed by the adsorption of DEHS,while that of diesel oil was the smallest.After pretreatment,the absorption of kapok fiber of three kinds of oil was increased.2.The effects of kapok fiber on the structure and properties of sheet were researched.The results showed that with the increase of kapok fiber's content,the evenness of sheet was decreased and the paper's structure became loose and dishevelled gradually.The thickness of sheet increased and the pore size of sheet increased.In addition,the air permeability of sheet increased slightly and the filtration efficiency and resistance of sheet decreased.There was no significant change in the quality factor of sheet.3.The existing single filter media dust holding capacity testing rig was modified by installing and debugging of double aerosol generators.It could produce solid aerosol and liquid aerosol at the same time,which realized the testing and analysis of solid/liquid mixed dust loading performance of filter media.4.The influence of different contents of liquid aerosol on the dust holding capacity of ultrafine fiber composite air filter media was investigated.Based on this,the solid/liquid mixed dust loading performance of filter paper consisted of kapok fiber was studied.According to the above research,it showed that the application of kapok fiber could improve the dust holding capacity of air filter media in the high oil content air ambient.
