Extending the service life of hydraulic filter media has practical significance for improving the stability of hydraulic systems and reducing its economic costs.In the past,it was believed that increasing the thickness of filter media was beneficial to increase the internal space for accommodating pollutants,thereby prolonging the service life of filter media.However,research on whether the entire thickness of filter media is fully utilized during the filtration process has not been reported.In addition,the pleating process will also affect the service life of filter,however,there is currently no method for quantitatively evaluating the pleating process of filter media.Therefore,this study intends to deeply explore the impact of thickness of hydraulic filter media on their service life and analyze the possibility of using texture analyzer to quantitatively evaluate the Pleating processing performance of filter media.Firstly,we analyzed the dust holding process of glass fiber hydraulic filter media and explored the effective utilization of thickness of filter media.By preparing 7 glass fiber filter media of different thicknesses with a close average flow pore size,the effect of thickness of the glass fiber filter media on the hydraulic filtration performance was analyzed.Finally,the possibility of using texture analyzer to quantitatively evaluate the pleating process of filter media was explored.The specific content and main conclusions are as follows:(1)In order to explore the role of the entire thickness of glass fiber filter media in accommodating pollutants in practical applications,this paper analyzed the dust-holding process of glass fiber hydraulic filter media.The results showed that in practical applications,pollutants were mainly concentrated in the upstream part of filter media.Further research showed that the filtration process of hydraulic glass fiber filter media can be divided into three stages: deep filtration stage,cake formation stage and cake filtration stage.The downstream part of filter media contained much less pollutants than the upstream part.At present,the entire thickness of filter media is not fully utilized when it contains pollutants.(2)In order to explore the influence of the thickness of the filter media on the measurement of the liquid filtration performance,this paper prepared 7 different thickness glass fiber filter media with an average flow pore diameter close to each other.Firstly,four kinds of fiber were analyzed,and then different reinforcing resins were compared.Finally,seven types of glass fiber filter media with thickness ranging from 0.12 mm to 0.84 mm were prepared,and the average flow pore size of filter media was controlled at 8.8±0.3 ?m.(3)Based on the fact that the average flow pore diameter of glass fiber filter media was close,the impact of thickness of filter media on the liquid filtration performance was explored.Under the premise that the average flow pore size is close,the filter media of different thicknesses have similar filtration accuracy.When the average filtration ratio is 75,the corresponding filtration size of 7 kinds of filter materials is 8.7?9.2 ?m.The dust holding capacity increased with the increment of thickness of filter media.However,when the thickness increased from 0.12 mm to 0.84 mm,the dust holding capacity increased only by 1.03 times.The relationship between the dust holding capacity and the thickness within the scope of this paper was s(x)= 35.6+56.5x.It can be seen that the reduction in the thickness of filter media was beneficial to increase the service life and filtration efficiency of the filter by increasing the filter area,which provides a possible space for optimizing the structural design of the filter.(4)In order to quantitatively evaluate the pleating processing performance of filter media,this paper used texture analyzer to perform pleating and scoring process on three filter media with large differences in performance structure(1#,2# for glass fiber,and 3# for plant fiber).The pressure curve was used to analyze the pleating depth,pleating pressure and structural changes of different filter media.The same scoring treatment had different effects on different filter media,so the scoring pressure and depth need to be adjusted for different filter media.The results showed that it is feasible to use the texture analyzer to quantitatively evaluate the processing performance of filter media,which provides an evaluation method for processing performance of filter in the development stage,and has a reference significance for shortening the experimental cycle and reducing the cost.
