The magnetostrictive materials possess large magnetostriction,high energy density,fast response and so on,which make them have a wide range of potential applications in energy transformation,sensor and actuating,etc.Based on iron-gallium alloy material,a polishing device for small aperture aspheric surface has been developed,named the magnetostrictive polishing device.Research shows that it can be widely used in a variety of surface polishing device,which would develop a new polishing device in the future.Firstly,magnetostrictive materials and their application were introduced.The background and development status for surface polishing methods were summarized and systematically analyzed.The main research contents of this paper have been developed.Subsequently,the model of polishing device has been developed.The model was simulated and analyzed by using finite element analysis software.According to the results of the simulation,the size of each part of the structure was preliminary designed and determined.The harmonic response analysis of the polishing device was carried out,and the results were in line with the design requirements.Based on the magnetostrictive effect of the materials,the output end motion trajectory of the polishing device has been analyzed,and three different trajectories have been obtained.Simulation and analysis of the magnetic field intensity and magnetic field distribution in the magnetostrictive rod of the polishing device have been carried out.The results show that the distribution of the magnetic field of Fe-Ga is more uniform than Fe-Co.At last,the influence of the rod length?the distance between rod and rod on the magnetic field strength has been analyzed,which provides a theoretical basis for the structural optimization.According to the basic working principle and the output characteristic of the power supply used in the experiment of the polishing device,the matching circuit has been designed,which is suitable for the capacitance and inductance of the polishing device.The material production and the performance test have been carried on according to the design of the circuit model,through the different capacitance matching,to achieve the desired effect.A polishing device prototype has been designed and fabricated.The static behaviorand dynamic behavior have been studied.The magnetic hysteresis of the polishing device has been studied by static experiments.The dynamic experiment has been carried out at various drive levels and frequencies of operation.It is found that the testing result is important to develop polishing device.
