With the rapid increasing of car ownership,the number of end-of-life vehicles would grow rapidly in future China.If the scraped cars can't be recycled effectively and scientifically,serious issues like resource waste and secondary pollution will be unavoidable.Though a number of regulations and policies have been released by the government to handle recycling of scraped cars and some relevant exploration about remanufacturing and reusing has been done by industry.However,the above-mentioned work merely focuses on indexes like recycling rate and reusing rate.Little work has been done to investigate resource consumption and environmental impact,especially ecological assessment of end-of-life vehicle recycling.Therefore,this article investigates ecological assessment of end-of-life vehicle regarding to assessment model,assessment software and assessment scenarios.The main contents are as follows:First of all,the current status of scraped car recycling in domestic and foreign countries is compared and analyzed in terms of industry policy and technology.The urgent problems of reusing and recycling of scraped vehicle in China have been summarized.In general,the recycling technology of China is relatively undeveloped compared to developed countries like USA,Japan and Germany which causes low rate of resource utilization and serious secondary pollution.Based on the characteristics and process of recycling in China,six sub-procedures are defined,which are dismantling,reverse logistics,reusing,remanufacturing,reutilizing and burning.By analyzing the relationship of material and mineral consumption,energy and fossil fuel consumption and their relationship with emissions,the ecological assessment of aforementioned six procedures has been established based on material consumption,energy consumption and emission.The end-of-life vehicle recycling will be assessed in terms of non-renewable resource consumption,global warming,acid,eutrophication,photochemical smog,human health damage.Next,the foundation database of scraped car recycling has been established which adapts to realistic situation of China.The established assessment model is utilized as background computing engine which couples with interactive interface.COM component technology is used to realize data communication.The ecological assessment software of end-of-life vehicle recycling is established.Finally,the experimental validation of the established model is done on a passenger car.The results of assessment is derived and compared with results derived from GaBi software.The comparison indicates the accordance among the computation results of two softwares with little difference on five major indexes but HTP.The difference may be due to the difference of foundation data,computing logic and default parameters.However,the developed software in this article is targeted specially to end-of-life vehicles' recycling,it outperforms GaBi software in terms of operating efficiency and accuracy.The research results of this article can not only provide reference to formulating of regulation and policy but also support energy conservation and emission reduction technologically in the process of end-of-life recycling.
