The traditional design method which is applied to carry out large-scale sheet metal sculpture surface steel frame design carries out a lot of repetitive design work and occupies a large number of human resources.This seriously restricts the design efficiency.Based on the research of steel frame design method,a mathematical model of the design problem is established in this paper.The constraint equation is established by studying the geometric constraint relation of geometric elements.The algorithm is designed based on the research.The main achievements are as follows:(1)The system structure and function models of the rapid design system are established.The system operation mechanism and the key technologies are analyzed.(2)The optimization method of dividing surface is studied,and the extracting and processing method of the feature curves is proposed.The reasons of selecting ambiguity in the process of dividing the surface are analyzed.Program-modeling method is used to divide the surface into small pieces.The characteristic curve is obtained by using plane interception.The BFS(Breadth-First Search)algorithm is used to process characteristic curve.The isolated figures and useless branches are removed to avoid the ambiguity in the design process according to the design characteristics of the statuary surface.The complex curve is difficulty to get its offset curve and to be used by the equipment in factory,so the complex curve is converted into continuous multi-line.The conversion error analysis function is designed.(3)The automatic-modeling method is proposed for the design of the steel frame.A complete geometric constraint system is established based on the study of the mathematical model and design constraint condition of the steel frame.The design of the steel frame is completed by solving the geometric constraints.Due to the design error of the end face of the steel frame caused by multi-line,XML file is used to store the end-face information data.And the bottom-up-order shape compensation design is used to solve the interference problem of steel frame assembly.The automatic segmentation and numbering design of the steel frame of the surface is realized.(4)The file data and information data storage rules are established.Rapid design system for steel frame of the large sheet metal sculpture surface is developed and all the functions are validated by actual model.
