A Study On The Impact Of The Reform Of Marketization On The Efficiency Of China's Carbon Emission

After nearly four decades of the reform of marketization on economic system,the economic strength of China and people's living standards have increased significantly.Meanwhile,China's carbon emissions are continued to rise,the relevant data showed that the growth rate of China's carbon emissions is more than twice the average level of world.The problem of global warming caused by the emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in production is harmful to the sustainable development of human society,developing the low-carbon economy has become the consensus of the society.Although China's government has been committed to reducing emissions in recent years,the overall efficiency of carbon emissions is low,if China's government want to achieve the targets of emission reduction,there will inevitably be a negative effect for China's economic.It is necessary to improve the efficiency of carbon emissions in production.The study showed that the efficiency of China's carbon emissions was gradually reduced with the formation and operation of the planned economic system,and which is gradually improving with the continuous improvement of the market economic system.Therefore,there is an important strategic significance to study the impact of the reform of marketization on the efficiency of China's carbon emission.Firstly,this paper constructs an index system and measures the degree of the marketization of economic system from 1998 to 2015 using the global principal component analysis,and the super-efficient SBM model is used to measure the efficiency of carbon emissions at the regional level.The results show that:(1)the degree of marketization shows a steady growth trend in many provinces,but there is a huge gap in different provinces.From the regional level,the degree of marketization shows echelon trends of the east,middle and west;(2)the overall efficiency of carbon emissions is low and it is still in a non-effective state in many provinces.From the regional level,the efficiency of carbon emissions shows echelon trends of the east,middle and west.Secondly,this paper analyzes the impact and transmission mechanism of the reform of marketization on the efficiency of China's carbon emission.Then,this paper selects the level of technological progress,the industrial structure,the price of energyand the export trade as the control variables,and constructs the dynamic panel model to analyze the linear impact of the reform of marketization on the efficiency of carbon emissions.The two-way fixed effect model is used for robustness test.And this paper chooses the technological progress and the price of energy as the transformatted variables,the level of technological progress,the industrial structure,the price of energy,the export trade,the infrastructure construction and the urbanization are used as the control variables.Then,the PSTR model is used to research the nonlinear impact of the reform of marketization on the efficiency of China's carbon emission.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The reform of marketization can significantly improve the efficiency of carbon emissions,the robustness test also confirms this result.In addition,technological progress,export trade,the price of energy can significantly improve the efficiency of carbon emissions.According to all the regression results,it can be found that the coefficient of technological progress is large,the technological progress is also essential for the improvement of the carbon emissions' efficiency.In addition,the industrial structure can hinder the improvement of carbon emissions' efficiency;(2)When the technological progress and the price of energy are chosen as transformatted variables,the PSTR model has obvious heterogeneity and the number of position parameters is 1.Under the influence of these two transformatted variables,the nonlinear impact of the reform of marketization on the efficiency of China's carbon emission has a single threshold characteristic.In the case of energy price as the transformatted variable,the impact of the reform of marketization on the efficiency of carbon emissions is significantly higher than the result of technological progress as the transformatted variable.In addition,infrastructure construction and urbanization will hinder the improvement of efficiency of carbon emissions.Finally,this paper puts forward some suggestions according to the empirical results.
