With high-speed economic development,iron and steel industry is developing rapidly,the demand for iron ores increases very fast.Making full use of the resources,improving the iron ore processing technology,reducing the production cost in iron and steel enterprises and increasing the self-sufficiency rate of iron ore is the key research direction of ore dressing in China.It is an important issue for the reverse flotation of iron concentrate to find an effective iron mineral inhibitor.The effects of starch,dextrin,sodium humate and chitosan on single minerals including magnetite and quartz in FeC-1 flotation system have been studied.The results show that these inhibitors have strong depressing effect on the two magnetite minerals when the pH value is over.The characterizing methods of infrared spectroscopy(IR)and zeta potential were used to understand the mechanism of interactions between inhibitors and minerals.With the condition of iron grade of iron concentrate from magnetic separation 61.50%,the grinding fineness of-0.074mm accounting for 91%,the dosage of FeC-1800g/t,the study result of inhibitors show that iron grade and operational recovery would reach 67.12%and 87.34%,respectively when the dosage of starch is 600g/t,the dosage of CaO is 1400g/t,and the pH value is 12.Iron grade and operational recovery would reach 67.38%and 88.12%,respectively when the dosage of dextrin is 600g/t,the dosage of CaO is 1000g/t,and the pH value is 11.5.And iron grade and operational recovery would reach 66.91%and 87.55%,respectively when the dosage of sodium humate is 800g/t,the dosage of CaO is 1500g/t,and the pH value is 11.5.Iron grade and operational recovery would reach 66.54%and 89.23%,respectively when the dosage of lignin sulfonate is 500g/t,the dosage of CaO is 1500g/t,the pH value is 11.5.The analyses of flotation products by SEM-EDS show that fine iron mineral particles and gangue mineral are wrapped up by each other seriously for the reason of magnetic coagulation and bridging-association,as a result,a part of iron minerals enter tailings following gangue minerals,so the iron grade of tailing is relatively high and recovery is on the low side;the iron grade of concentrate is relatively low due to the existence of iron mineral-gangue mineral intergrowth.
