In this paper,a series of CdXZn1-XS samples?where X is the mole ratio of Cd elements in the catalyst?were synthesized by a simple wet chemical method by using cadmium nitrate,zinc nitrate and sodium sulfide as precursors.The resulting samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction,Uv-vis spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm,fluorescence spectra,photocurrent,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron energy spectrum to analyze the physical structure,including optical properties,morphology,specific surface area,pore structure,photogenerated electron-hole pairs separation and surface composition of the photocatalyst.The photocatalytic performance for the photocatalytic synthesis of Schiff base compounds was investigated in the coupling system of benzyl alcohol and nitrobenzene under visible light irradiation.Results show that when X is 0.78(Cd0.78Zn0.22S),the sample exhibits the highest photocatalytic performance.The yield of Schiff's base is up to 55.2%,and we estimate that the theoretical yields of benzaldehyde and aniline are 96.6%and 67.9%based on the yield of Schiff base,respectively.We have estimated the quantum efficiency of the catalyst through activity experiments using different wavelengths,the calculated QE of the sample with?=450±10 nm is 15.8%.Furthermore,a series of different Schiff base compounds were synthesized under coupling systems of different aromatic alcohols and nitrobenzenes to verify the general applicability of Zn3In2S6 samples.Meanwhile,we also carried out photocatalytic splitting of benzyl alcohol to H2 evolution and benzaldehyde with Zn3In2S6 samples.The Zn3In2S6 catalysts were synthesized with water,methanol,ethanol and ethylene glycol as solvents.The photocatalytic performance of the catalysts was analyzed by XRD,XPS,SEM,TEM,Uv-vis and BET.The results show that Zn3In2S6 catalysts were successfully synthesized and were considered as suitable materials for the photocatalytic reaction.The photocatalytic performance of Zn3In2S6 samples synthesized by different solvents was examined by splitting aromatic alcohols to aromatic aldehydes and hydrogen evolution.The experimental results show that the sample prepared with water as solvent in this reaction system has the best catalytic performance.The hydrogen yield reaches 708.7?mol???380 nm?and the corresponding yield of benzaldehyde is 732.1?mol.The results show that the yield of aldehyde and hydrogen is close to 1:1.In addition,we performed illumination experiments with different wavelengths to estimate the quantum efficiency of the catalyst.For example,the calculated QE of the sample with?=365±10 nm is 3.21%.Moreover,the reaction mechanism was studied through the analysis of electrochemical,fluorescence spectroscopy and capture agent experiments.
