The BC block in Qatar faces challenges of high abrasive formation and large size hole in ultra-deep drilling,and the target sections in this block have been reamed for two times.The reamed hole length is longer and the hole size larger,which bring some difficulties to the drilling process.Based on the drilling engineering in the BC block in Qatar,the drilling parameters are optimized to improve the drilling efficiency,which is of practical reference value.The drilling parameters optimization includes hydraulic parameters optimization and mechanical parameters optimization.Landmark software is used to optimize hydraulic parameters of target sections in the BC block in Qatar.On the basis of investigating the existing mechanical specific energy models,the optimized mechanical specific energy model is established though optimizing calculations of effective drilling pressure and effective torque & drilling efficiency in bottom hole;Considering the effect of confined compressive strength on bottom hole rock and the flow chart of drilling parameters optimization,the optimized mechanical specific energy model will be used more reasonably;The calculation and analysis of mechanical specific energy have been accomplished by using drilling and logging data of adjacent well in the BC block in Qatar so that the optimized mechanical energy model is also verified;Finally,the optimized mechanical specific model and the flow chart are used to optimize the drilling mechanical parameters of the target sections in the BC block in Qatar.
