Cyclone separator was a kind of the gas-solid separation equipment,which was widely used in petrochemical,metal smelting,powder engineering,coal-fired power generation,environmental protection and other industries.But there was serious erosion in the wall of cyclone separator caused by the impacts of particles.It would lead to abnormal breakdown for the maintenance of the device and cause unnecessary economic losses to the enterprise.First,the quantity of the particle reserves and top particle ring were measured through the experiments on 300 mm PV cyclone separator in different materials,such as Talcum powder(325 mesh),Iron ore powder(d50=80 ?m)and FCC powder(d50=100 ?m).And the inlet velocity was among 5 to 20 m/s.The experimental results showed that the particle reserves would be varied with the particle type.The bigger inlet velocity and particle concentration,the higher particle reserves was.The periodic shedding and rebirth top particle ring were appeared in the top of the cyclone separator.The top particle ring would be varied with the particle type and the operating parameters.The quality ratio of the top particle ring to the particle reserves was big.The serious erosion was caused in the wall of annular space by top particle ring.Moreover,the relationship between the particle reserves and the wall erosion of the cyclone separator was analyzed.The change laws of both inlet velocity and particle concentration were same.The wall erosion measurement of the separator was very complicated and time-consuming.The difficulty and the cost of the particle reserves measurement were easier than the erosion measurement.Therefore,in certain cases,it would provide convenient for using and improvement of the cyclone separator by measuring the particle reserves to indirectly reflect the overall situation of the wall erosion.Once again,the numerical simulation method would be used to simulate the wall erosion of cyclone separator.As the result,the appearance of the cyclone separator wall erosion was spiral strip.The nonuniformity of the wall erosion was obviously existed in the axial and circumferential direction.The seriously wall erosion was appeared in the annular space near the top plate,cylinder middle area and discharging port under the cone,which had consistent trend with experimental data.The wall erosion with the rise of inlet velocity and concentration was greater than the linear and linear increase.The wall erosion would be varied with the particle type.At last,the sructure of the cyclone separator was improved by installing the spiral blade in the cylinder body.The interior field flow and the wall erosion of the improved cyclone separator were researched by the method of numerical simulation.The results showed that,the spiral blade impacted by the fluid,the energy wasted,and the rotational flow in the cyclone weakened after the spiral blade installed.The axial speed and the spiral angle of the downward fluid increased due to the diversion effect of the spiral blade.With the increasing of both the downward spiral angle and the axial velocity of the particles,the wall erosion reduced.Through the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the particle reserves and the wall erosion,the basic law had been obtained,which could provide useful advice and guidance for the design and erosion detection of the cyclone separator.
