China is the biggest manufacture base of toys and juvenile products, over 70%of toys are manufactured in China, giving a gross product of over 600 billion yuan to toy industries.Since toys and juvenile products are intended to be used by children who have the physiological characteristics of weaker self-protection and stronger absorptive capabilities, more and more attentions are focus on the quality and safety of toys and juvenile products. Therefore, stringent regulations and strictly standards of hazardous limit had been issued, and migration detection of certain elements is the typical chemical requirements for toys and juvenile products.Based on investigation and study of regulations and standards about domestic and foreign as well as physiological characteristics of children, the effect of migration test condition on the migration law of certain elements in three migration liquids, such as simulated sweat, saliva and gastric fluid, are studied, the content of this study is as follows:(1)Based on the investigation and study data of physiological feature and playing habits of Chinese children, the effect of migration test condition in simulated sweat, such as content of sweat,pH value, migration time and agitation frequency, were studied. The optimized migration test condition of sweat is that sodium chloride, urea and lactic acid are adopted as simulated children's sweat, and the pH is 4.4,the migration is performed under 37 ~oC with an agitation frequency of 60 cycles per minute for 1 h.Then an inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometric(ICP-MS)method of simulated sweat migration was also presented, which is efficient, reliable and capable of meeting requirements of migration limit specified in OEKO-TEX standards and other regulations.(2)Based on the investigation and study data of saliva feature and oral behaviour of Chinese children, the effect of migration test condition in simulated saliva, such as content of saliva,pH value, migration time and agitation frequency, were studied. The optimized migration test condition of saliva is that calcium chloride dihydrate, magnesium chloride hexahydrate together with sodium and potassium salts are adopted as simulated children's saliva, and the pH is 6.8,the migration is performed under 37 ~oC with an agitation frequency of 60 cycles per minute for 2 h.Then an ICP-MS method for determination of migration of certain elements in simulated saliva was also presented, which is validated to present good sensitivity and accuracy.(3)Based on investigation and study data of stomach physiological data of Chinese children, the effect of migration test condition in simulated gastric fluid, such as initial pH value and agitation frequency, were studied. The optimized migration test condition of gastric fluid is that hydrochloric acid is adopted as simulated children's gastric fluid, and the initial pH is from 1.0 to1.5,the migration is performed under 37 oC with an agitation frequency from 120 to 180 cycles per minute for 1 h and standing for 1 h then.Meanwhile,an ICP-MS method for determination of migration of certain elements in simulated gastric fluid was also presented, which is sensitive, reliable and can be applied for screening of organic tins and chromium VI,furthermore, the method was also capable to meet the most stringent requirements of migration limit of certain elements in gastric fluid.
