Ammonium removal coupling with iron reduction have been discovered recently,which is considered as a new pathway to treat wastewater.Nevertheless,there is little information to prove the efficiency of ammonium removal for real wastewater.Thus,civil wastewater and mine wastewater and industrial wastewater were selected in this study,including 7 kinds of real wastewater from Guangdong and Guangxi province.The main test conclusions are as follows:?1?The ammonium of civil wastewater from Qinzhou Wastewater Treatment Plant and Lijiao Wastewater Treatment Plant is removed during 10days incubation.The ammonium removal rate of wastewater from Qinzhou Wastewater Treatment Plant is 8.17g·m-3·d-11 on average during 10days incubation,40.05%ammonium was removed in the civil wastewater treatment during 10days incubation,which ammonium is mainly oxidized to nitrogen and nitric.On the other hand,the ammonium removal rate of wastewater from Lijiao Wastewater Treatment Plant is 4.15g·m-3·d-11 on average during 10days incubation,78.18%ammonium was removed in the civil wastewater treatment during 10days incubation,which ammonium is mainly oxidized to nitrogen and nitric.These results suggest that civil wastewaters can provide an appropriate environment for Feammox and the process of iron reduction and ammonium oxidation can be used for civil wastewater treatment.?2?The ammonium of industrial wastewater from Shanwei pyrites wastewaterand Guangzhou dyeing wastewater isn't removed during 10days incubation.But the ammonium of Shanwei pyrites wastewater is removed during 10days incubation after adjusting pH to 4.5.The ammonium removal rate of wastewater from Shanwei pyrites wastewater is2.95g·m-3·d-11 on average during 10days incubation,44.64%ammonium was removed in the civil wastewater treatment during 10days incubation,which ammonium is mainly oxidized to nitrogen.While the ammonium of industrial wastewater from Guangzhou dyeing wastewater after adjusting pH to 4.5 isn't removed during 10days incubation.These results suggest that the process of iron reduction and ammonium oxidation cannot be used for pyrites wastewater unless adjusting its pH to 4.5.The process of iron reduction and ammonium oxidation cannot be used for Guangzhou dyeing wastewater after adjusting their pH to 4.5 because of their complicated composition which may inhibit incubation.?3?The ammonium of rural wastewater from Xiaolan River in Qinzhou and Shanwei Dahu Oxidation Pond Wastewater Treatment Plant and Guangzhou piggery wastewater is removed during 10days incubation.The ammonium removal rate of wastewater from Xiaolan River in Qinzhou is 0.68g·m-3·d-11 on average during 10days incubation,12.86%ammonium was removed in the civil wastewater treatment during 10days incubation,which ammonium is mainly oxidized to nitrogen and nitrite.On the other hand,the ammonium removal rate of wastewater from Shanwei Dahu Oxidation Pond Wastewater Treatment Plant is 0.187g g·m-3·d-11 on average during 10days incubation,5.18%ammonium was removed in the civil wastewater treatment during 10days incubation,which ammonium is mainly oxidized to nitrogen and nitric.Although the process of iron reduction and ammonium oxidation can be used for wastewater from Xiaolan River in Qinzhou and Shanwei Dahu Oxidation Pond Wastewater Treatment Plant,the ammonium removal rate of wastewater from Xiaolan River in Qinzhou and Shanwei Dahu Oxidation Pond Wastewater Treatment Plant is much lower than that in civil wastewater from Qinzhou Wastewater Treatment Plant and Lijiao Wastewater Treatment Plant during 10days incubation.Rural wastewater from Xiaolan River in Qinzhou and Shanwei Dahu Oxidation Pond Wastewater Treatment Plant may have pesticide and fertilizer which inhibit incubation leading to a lower reaction rate.The process of iron reduction and ammonium oxidation cannot be used for Guangzhou piggery wastewater.
