Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer?ABS?resin is a kind of amorphous thermoplastic plastics,the performance of which fall in between general-purpose plastics and engineering plastics.It has excellent comprehensive performance and a wide range of application.However,the application of ABS is limited by its disadvantages,such as poor weather resistance,poor outdoor impact performance,poor thermal stability and low surface gloss.The high performance of ABS resin is getting more and more attention,and the use of blending modification methods to improve the comprehensive performance of ABS is widely studied.This paper studied the important role of PETS in the process of Nano-CaCO3 modification of ABS,nylon modification of ABS and masterbatch modification of ABS.?1?ABS/PETS composites were prepared by using PETS and different grades of ABS plastics and tougheningmodification of ABS plastics by PETS is studied.In addition,the comprehensive properties of different grades of ABS plastics are compared.The results show that the mechanical properties of different grades of ABS plastics are different,and the optimal dosage of PETS is in the range of 0.40.8 phr.When the amount of PETS is about 0.6 phr,the notched impact strength of ABS?PA-747?grade is going up to 21kJ/m2,which is more than double that of the pure ABS,and meanwhile the tensile strength,elongation at break,flexural strength and other mechanical properties have been improved.?2?The PA6 was used to modify the ABS plastic,with the increasing amount of PA6,the tensile strength and flexural strength of ABS/PA6 composites were continuously improved,but the impact strength and elongation at break showed a downward trend.In addition,the toughening modification of PETS to ABS/PA6 composites were further studied.When the amount of PETS was about 1.0 phr,the notched impact strength of the material reached a maximum,reaching 6.6 kJ/m2.?3?The Nano-CaCO3 was used to modifiy ABS plastic,the results showed that Nano-CaCO3 significantly improved the mechanical properties of ABS plastic.After adding PETS to ABS/Nano-CaCO3 composite materials,the mechanical properties and processing properties of ABS/Nano-CaCO3/PETS composite materials was further studied.The results showed that the PETS significantly improved the material's tensile strength,elongation at break,notched impact strength and hardness,etc and the surface gloss of the materials was significantly improved.PETS had a good effect on toughening modified ABS/Nano-CaCO3composite materials.?4?In order to facilitate the addition of PETS in actual production and promote dispersion,the PETS masterbatches were prepared by adding PETS and Nano-CaCO3,with EVM and POE as carriers.Studies had shown that PETS masterbatches could significantly improve the mechanical properties of ABS composite materials and the impact resistance of materials.When the amount of PETS masterbatches was 0.8 phr,the tensile strength increased by 17 MPa and the impact strength increased by about 418%.The use of Nano-CaCO3 alone will reduce the gloss of the system,but the addition of PETS masterbatches can effectively avoid this defect.
