Although highly electrically conductive polymer composites filled with two-dimensional graphene-based nanofillers have been considerably explored,it still remains a challenge to construct these styrene-based nonocomposites with more effective conductive network at lower nanofiller content. The monodisperse PS and ABS microspheres with the appropriate size were designed so that the graphene could completely envelop the surface of the microspheres relying on the?-? interanction. As a result, the utilization of graphene was improved. The structure, morphology, electrical performance, thermal and mechanical property of these nanocomposites with isolated structure was systematically studied.SEM and TEM images showed that there was a good interfacial bonding between graphene and styrene-based polymer, which was account for the well-established segregated conductive structure. The percolation threshold of PS/pGR composites was as low as 0.047 vol% while the value for ABS/rGO segregated conductive composites was 0.062 vol%,both of which were lower than ever reported value in literatures. In addition, the thermal and mechanical properties could also meet market demand. In short, two typical styrene-based polymers were selected in this work: the homopolymer PS and the copolymer ABS.Through the latex technology, graphene was wrapped on the surface of styrene-based polymer microspheres, and a lightweight high-performance segregated structure of styrene-basedpolymer/graphene nanocomposites by hot pressing was successfully completed, which is beneficial for broadening the application of styrene-based polymers.
