With the increasing demand for automated production in the field of CNC machining,the traditional chip detection of the surface of the workpiece cannot satisfy the requirements of modernized automated production,and image detection technology has been payed attention by the CNC machining industry for its high accuracy and good economy.Based on the image detection technology,this paper uses the platform of portable device to detect chip,and give a research on the key technologies such as the communication technology between portable equipment and robot,the image processing technology on portable device and the technology of chip detection.About the problem of the communication technology between portable equipment and robot,this paper establishes the socket connection between portable device side and robot controller side on the basis of the TCP transmission control protocol after analyzes the functional requirements of the chip detection system.And develop a set of communication sub-module which base on the Socket connection to ensure the communication between portable device and robot real-time and security.The image processing is the core of the chip detection system.This paper achieves image processing on portable device after in-depth studying the traditional image processing algorithms.The key features of the image are extracted after image preprocessing and image processing through the development of reasonable image processing flow,and which provides data support for the later chip detection.About the problem of chip detection,this paper proposes to detect the chip by judging whether the maximum area of a single chip in the image exceeds the set threshold.The area of each chip profile is calculated to find the maximum chip contour area on the basis of image processing,and finally the maximum chip contour area is compared with the set threshold value to judge whether there is a chip residue in the scene picture.Based on the above research,this paper develops and implements a chip detection system based on portable devices.And the chip detection experiment is carried out by using Huazhong robot and portable equipment at the processing site,which proves that the chip detection system has good applicability.
