Stay cable requires a good stiffness and strength in a qualitative level as it is main bearing and po wer transmission component. However, due to the long-term fatigue load and explosion in the natural environment, stay cable and anchorage structure are prone to be corroded severely. The damage to the stay cable has huge impact on the comprehensive performance and normal operation of cable-stayed bridge.For cable-stayed bridge, due to the stress relaxation, fatigue and corrosion of its steel, the deformation of bridge itself and other unfavorable factors, it can consequently encounter partial damages. Though these partial damages will not quickly breach the whole structure of bridge, from a superficial view, it will actually bring its structure potential dangers. These partial damages in cables will undermine the rigidity of the bridge as well as its bearing capacity, which will influence vehicles' normal driving condition and degrade its buckling load. All this will not only shorten the life length of vehicles, but also threaten people's life and property security. If the partial damages can be found timely, and its severity and location can be determined promptly, then our maintenance man can precisely make a feasible resolution of maintenance to deal with it in time. This is a vital guarantee to safeguard people's life and property.The major study of this paper is given below:In the first place, the current situation and de velopment of the stay cable and its property are introduced in this paper. Through analyzing the damage scenario in the using process, the damage analysis of stay cable is presented.Moreover, through analyzing the structural response of stay cable under different damages, the varying pattern of main girder of cable-stayed bridge line, cable internal force, cable tower displacement and the bridge dynamic performance are studied. Finally, according to the analysis of cable damage and broken cable combined cable damage detection technique, a feasible detection method is studied. The probability of health warning in cable-stayed bridge from healthy monitoring the main girder, cable, and the main tower is presented in this paper.
