Modern major projects ask for high performance to the structure, and they also have complex structure generally. Diagnosing major structures'performance, finding out the injuries portion and the extent of damage, estimating the performance of the structure change and the security as well as detect residual service life of structures play an great significance role in improving running efficiency of engineering structures and ensure the safety of the lives and property of the people. Fiber Bragg grating has a lot of advantages such as high measurement precision, high sensitivity, simple structure, small volume, light weight, electric insulation, strong electromagnetic interference resistance, measuring object widely, easy to constitute a sensor network, realize the online real-time monitoring, etc. With the rapid development of fiber Bragg grating sensing technology, fiber grating sparked a revolution in the field of structural health monitoring. In this paper, the main content is as follows:Firstly, this paper introduces the superiority and development status of fiber Bragg grating sensing technology, and expounds the structure and the sensing principle of fiber Bragg grating; further studied the characteristics of fiber Bragg grating strain sensor and temperature sensor; With time going, manufacture technology of Fiber Bragg Grating is in steady improvement, its un-substitution and potential application prospects gradually show in various fields. It is one of the most important directions in the field of civil engineering to monitor structures with FBG sensors;Secondly,a two-dimensional FBG strain sensor and a spatial three-dimensional fiber Bragg grating strain sensor were put forward and developed in the view of the engineering structure under complex stress state in the problem of "dimension matching" on the basis of the application of these sensors. The problem that major engineering structure under complex stress state which need long-term monitoring is solved though the test and research on the two-dimensional optical fiber Bragg grating strain sensor and the spatial three-dimensional development of the fiber Bragg grating strain sensor, as well as the sensing properties. The results of experiment shows that these two kinds of multidirectional fiber Bragg grating strain sensor has high sensitivity, good reliability, small influence on the structure itself, high survival rate, installation and flexible to reusable. They also be combined with structure well, which can be applied to major engineering structure health monitoring;Finally, FBG sensors are used for research on the application of the culture and art center of Shenyang engineering and Guo dian he feng Tie ling Tai zi shan wind power plant's turbine foundation bolt engineering. The fastener scaffold stability evaluation of the culture and art center of Shenyang engineering for the bearing performance and safety is achieved through the support system of fastener scaffold strain monitoring. By Guo dian he feng Tie ling Tai zi shan wind power plant's turbine foundation bolt monitoring to observe the change of strain is implemented for the real-time and safety of long-term monitoring of wind turbine structure.
