Nowadays, due to the growing shortage of energy and environmental problems, people are paying more and more attention to wind power, which is a clean and safe energy without any pollution. Wind power can save routine energy consumption, and can also be sustainably developed.Benefited from the rapid development of computer technology and control technology, wind power technology has obtained a rapid development. Stand-alone capacity has reached more than one megawatts per unit, which was kilowatt per unit initially. Controlling category has transformed from fixed-pitch control to changed-pitch control, and controlling strategy has also been developing towards the direction of intelligent control.This paper mainly researches on variable speed constant frequency wind power generation system, and establishes a simulation model of the system. Concerning that different control objectives based on different wind speed, two different adaptive fuzzy PID controllers are designed and applied to low and high wind speed, respectively. Simulation in Matlab/Simulink was carried out by using adaptive fuzzy PID control method. The results show that at low wind speed, the tip speed ratio and wind energy utilization factor can be maintained near their optimal values respectively, by using adaptive fuzzy PID control method. The steady performance and dynamic performance of the adaptive fuzzy PID control method are also well. The effect of the adaptive fuzzy PID control is much better than PID control and fuzzy control. At high wind speed, the rotate speed and output power can both be maintained near their rated values, respectively, by using adaptive fuzzy PID control method. The steady performance and rapid dynamic performance can be maintained in a considerable effect both on low and on high speed controlling, which demonstrate that adaptive fuzzy PID control method is feasible and effective.
