Recently, the aluminum alloy conductor is widely used for its high comprehensive technical economical performance. The methods for testing and assessing the performance of aluminum alloy conductor have been a hot spot. By studying methods for assessing performance of aluminum alloy conductor, this dissertation is dedicated to provide a reference for existing ones.To study the method for assessing the creep property of the aluminum alloy conductor, a 100 hours creep test under a 76MPa compressive stress at 90? was carried out on the 8030 aluminum alloy conductor. To study the method for assessing the connection performance of the aluminum alloy conductor thoroughly, a stress relaxation test was designed and conducted. Influences of parameters of solid wire, assembly procedures and types of the terminal on the stress relaxation property of the aluminum alloy conductor have been studied and summed up in this dissertation. To study the method for assessing the corrosion performance of the aluminum alloy conductor, a salt spray test was carried out which characterizes and assesses the corrosion resistance of the aluminum alloy conductor by the weight chage, macro and micro corrosion appearance. Results show that:The creep property of the 8030 aluminum alloy conductor is similar to the T2(R) conductor's, and much better than the A4-1A60 conductor's. This creep test can quantitatively characterizes and compare the creep properties of different conductors. Creep deformation for a certain period of time can be extrapolated by fitting and analyzing the data of steady creep stage. But it needs to establish a more reasonable creep analysis model.Hard conductor has a better stress relaxation property than the soft conductor. Round conductor has a better stress relaxation property than the shaped conductor. Compared with the confining pressure process, pit pressure process can provide a better stress relaxation property for aluminum alloy conductors. Conductors made by reverse crimping have a better stress relaxation property than by normal crimping. Conductors pressured with copper to aluminum terminal lug have a better stress relaxation property than conductors pressured with through connector. This dissertation provides a method which can test, characterize and assess the stress relaxation property of the aluminum alloy conductor. The main factors influencing the property can be analyzed with this method which can also optimize design parameters and assembly process of the aluminum alloy conductor, thus getting a better stress relaxation property.Corrosion usually occurs in area containing Fe element when aluminum alloy conductors are in salty fog corrosion environment. The higher content of Fe element, the higher content of O element, and the corrosion is more serious. This dissertation provides an assessment method for corrosion resistance of the aluminum alloy conductor, which regard the weight chage, macro and micro corrosion appearance as main parameters and basis to characterize and assess the corrosion resistance of the aluminum alloy conductor.
