Currently, the main cooling and heating sources scheme of large and medium-sized air-conditioning system include chilled-water cooling and auxiliary heating(boiler,thermal power plants), heat pump units(air source heat pump, ground source heat pump,water source heat pump)and natural cooling and heating sources. The heat-source tower heat pump belongs to a type of air source heat pump. It adopted broadband heat transfer and spray solution defrost technology, which used to solve the outdoor heat exchanger frosting shortcomings of common air source heat pump in the mode of operating in winter. And it has a very good application prospects and energy-saving superiority in cold winter and high humidity southern region of our country.At first, the paper introduced the system structure and working principle of the heat-source tower heat pump, and according to the application of it, a villa was selected as representative building. And the paper took the comparative analysis and research between heat-source tower heat pump air conditioning system ? VRV air conditioning system and water-cooled screw + gas boiler air conditioning system.Then used the building energy simulation software, eQUEST, to simulate annual energy consumption of heat-source heat pump system?VRV air conditioning system and water-cooled screw + gas boiler system which were used in the building representatively. Finally, according to the results of simulation, the applicability of the heat-source tower heat pump air conditioning system in Changsha was got from the primary energy consumption and energy conversion coefficient and operation bills.Also, the economy of the heat pump was elicited by calculating the initial investment,annual fee, the life cycle cost(LCC) and thermo economic cost between the three air conditioning systems. The operating performance was tested of the heat-source tower heat pump developed for winter condition.Comparison and analysis results indicates that the heat-source tower heat pump air conditioning system units which is of stable operation, good defrosting performance and the COP of the chiller can be 4.218 at most in winter. Comparing with other two commonly used air conditioning systems, the initial investment of the heat-source tower heat pump is the lowest, and the synthetic energy consumption coefficient of it is 0.38935, the synthetic cost of thermo economic is 0.5647?/ kW?h.
