The design and the assembly of complex product are the two key stages in its whole life cycle. The changes of the market demands caused that domestic and foreign scholars carried out researches in the field of rapid design theory and technology of complex product, management method of assembly process and product information modeling. Although some progress has been made, it still can't meet the market's requirements such as the design cycle and the design quality of product, management efficiency in the assembly process and information integration, consistency and reuse in the whole life cycle and so on.Aiming at the problems above, the paper put forward a new multiplatform integrated rapid design method for shortening the cycle of product development by means of software platform and interface technology that take the consistency parametric structure model and the finite element analysis model as the information carrier and take the whole design process as the driving mechanism from the angle of information and software engineering. A rapid design platform of tower crane is developed based on this method. The advantage of the multiplatform rapid design method of product is verified by the design example of a tower crane in use. According to the problems of the data model that far from perfect and the low collaborative work efficiency of assembly workers currently faced in the assembly process of complex product, the assembly process data model is established in this paper, including information management, process information and geometry information et al. Based on the assembly process flow chart, the overall structure framework of the assembly process is constructed, including the assembly process design layer, assembly planning layer, assembly execution layer and the process designer, dispatcher of workshop, assembly technician and the management and control of discrete assembly of complex product is realized. The management system of assembly process of complex product—ASMMSDI system is developed based on the modeling theory of consistent product information. Finally, the ASMMSDI system is applied in the assembly process design of Longmen Guideway Grinder. This example shows that the system can solve the existing problems in the process of complex product assembly in a certain extent. The feasibility in the practical application of digital assembly process management of complex product based on the consistent information model of product is also demonstrated.
