Latticed intersected cylindrical shell is a new type of reticulated shell with particular shape. The simple cylinders meeting one another with various numbers and angles can create such shells. It is characterized of architecturally beauty and reasonable structure. Single-layer reticulated shells taking membrane force as the main force, which have good structural behavior. However, due to this kind of span's thin thickness and superior span, the stability problem of the single-layer latticed intersected cylindrical shell is exceedingly outstanding in latticed intersected cylindrical shells. Therefore, the stability analysis of which is particularly necessary. The studies on stability performance of common single-layer latticed intersected cylindrical shells has been more and more perfect, which alignment in the form of circular arch, but the researches on the structures of single-layer latticed intersected cylindrical shell in the form of other arch alignment are very little. According to the distinctive mechanical performance of catenary arch, intersecting three inverted catenary cylindrical reticulated shells with 60 angle can form a new latticed intersected cylindrical shell – intersected inverted catenary cylindrical reticulated shell, the nonlinear static stability of which was studied systematically and deeply in this paper by using finite element software of ANSYS.Firstly, for the single layer intersected inverted catenary cylindrical reticulated shell, the static properties and stability of the structures with different types of grid were studied and compared first, the optimal grid form was then obtained. The comparison in the static properties and stability of the single layer intersected inverted catenary cylindrical reticulated shell with the intersected circular cylindrical reticulated shell is carried out.Secondly, the stability of the former was studied comprehensively, including the buckling modes and the effect of various parameters such as the member sectional dimension, initial geometric imperfection, unsymmetrical distribution of loads and support constrained form on the ultimate load. Finally, on the base of considering the geometric nonlinearity of the reticulated shells, further considering the factor of material nonlinearity, a series of double nonlinear analysis of the single layer intersected inverted catenary cylindrical reticulated shells were carried out, the buckling modes and the whole process of plasticity development of the structures were investigated, at the same time, the effect of material nonlinearities, initial geometric imperfection, unsymmetrical distribution of loads and support constrained form on the elasto-plasticity ultimate loads of the shells were analyzed. The research in this paper could provide theoretical basis and reference for the practical engineering application of such kind of structure.
