The Research Of Products Design Based On “minimalism”

With the accelerating pace of life, aggravating social competition, increasing living pressure, “Minimalism” has attracted more and more people’s attention. It becomes one of mainstream trends of design.It is relatively limited to take it as a design style only. Moreover, it is a thought, culture and aesthetics definition; and it is a way of thinking things and a method of solving problems. "Minimalism" explores the essence of things, stresses the return to origin and nature, and expresses the rich connotation in a simple way. Less is more.So far, many eastern and western countries have had explorations on "Minimalism" from different angles and fields, which have obtained corresponding results. Western countries mainly focus on the design practice, and they have more mature design techniques in different design fields. They have already produced many famous artist and excellent artworks of minimalism design. However, eastern countries have deeper explorations on theories and ideas of Minimalism. Rooted in the profound traditional culture, combined with philosophical thinking, they have studied minimalism from a broader and deeper point of view. Japan is the representative of eastern countries on this exploration. In fact, China is no less than Japan in culture advantage; China has even broader and profounder culture. However, the rich traditional culture of minimalism has not made China walk independently and smoothly on the road of simple design. The minimalism design road of China just began. To learn from the western countries and Japan with open mind, to absorb the outstanding traditional culture, to study Minimalism ideas with the height of philosophy and depth of culture, to explore the minimalism design with modern vision and design techniques, are what we need to think to research and develop Chinese minimalism design.From Mies’ s "less is more",to the Eames’ s "less, but better", the connotation of minimalism idea is more and more abundant in today’s era of the Internet, information, and big data are developing rapid. On the basis of deep understanding history culture,with an unknown vision and a new approach as guide, tap new connotation of minimalism and explore the development direction of chinese minimalist design,are important issues this paper need to study.The connotation of minimalism idea is abundant, and in future it will become more abundant. This paper firstly makes a systematic explanation on related concepts of minimalism; Secondly, it makes in-depth interpretation of the eastern and western Minimalism ideas, trying to find out spiritual and cultural supports suitable for development of China’s Minimalism; Thirdly, it carries on analysis on representative minimalism products and brands from the aspect of product design, expecting to find a suitable method for China’s minimalism design; Finally, upon analysis of the present situation of Chinese design and contemporary minimalism product design, it puts forward some suggestions on the development of China’s minimalism design.
