Systematic Research Of Urban Public Space In Paris

Entering the second decade of twenty-first century,Chinese urban construction has come to the "fork" of history.Development concepts such as Sustainable development and People-oriented have become an irreversible historical trend;sectors of citizens’ wish that shaping colorful and full of life urban public space is increasingly strong and unstoppable.The 21 st century will be a new "Enlightenment" era,more and more cities will step into a truly democratic society and attract new urban development. Under such a social context,systematic theoretical construction of urban public space should got more research and attention.But through the survey we found that domestic sphere book about systematic construction of urban public space is rare,public space always is expressed by urban space and lack of public and city-level emphasis on comprehensive,specialized organization theory;while the domestic planning discussions on the "public" are mostly carried out on the social and intellectual level. Human spirit and material form demands a combination that has not been given due attention.Therefore,the author selected Paris,the cultural capital of the world as a case study,through a comprehensive interpretation of the Paris urban public space,to identify the relevance between the material and social characterization of urban public space.Paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is a summary of the context of the entire thesis;the second chapter on the basis of knowledge and understanding of space and urban public space,analyzes the structure and the elements of urban public space,then makes a brief description of first structural elements-public function,and then the values the urban public space from sociology and political philosophy of two angles;the third chapter is about the summary of the backgroud and course on urban public space in Paris,including its geography,economic analysis and cultural environment as well as cluesto the history of the development of a longitudinal study of the city of Paris for each historical period characterized by issues,impacts and age factors;The fourth chapter builds the architecture of Paris urban public space systems from the macro,meso and micro levels,each level firstly to define its studies scope, and deconstructs content and design method of main features of Paris urban public space system,then cites examples for illustration;the fifth chapter carrys on a preliminary research on the effect of social,economic and cultural factors on the "physical" dynamic development of urban public space by the view of Paris public cultural strategy and updating of urban public space.
