The Climate Adaptation Construction Strategy Research Of Lang Zhong Ancient City

The climate-adaptability-based construction practices in Chinese ancient city can be traced back to the Xia dynasty, BC 2000 years ago. For thousands of years, Chinese philosophy idea, “heven-and-human oneness”and natural-oriented urban construction have created a livable human settlement. It contains the profound wisdom of construction skills considering climate adaptation in all aspects from regional buidings to landscape gardens and to urban planning. Under the background that global climate has markedly changed, city safety are facing problems caused by the devastation of ecosystem. Not only can studying of Chinese ancient city construction experience of climate adaptation, reviewing and summarizing the history help us rethink the problems at present profoundly, but also lead the current urban climate adaptability construction to get better by drawing lessons from the ancient city idea and experience combined with modern science and technology, so as to reduce or even avoid losses.Based on the theoty of climate adaptation construction in Chinese ancient city and analysis of the pratical construction experiences, the author summarizes a set of basic approaches of ancient city construction considering climate adaptability. The Lang Zhong ancient city, “the first FENG SHUI CITY in China” with outstanding climate contradictions, has been chosen by author as the research object. The article starts from analysis of fundamental research element in ancient city construction like sunshine adaptive 、 wind adaptability 、 precipitation adaptability and microclimate regulation(temperature adaptability). Afterwards, literature research, field work, inductive and deductive methods are applied to further research on Lang Zhong city to explore efficient climate adaptation-based construction strategies. Finally, the article draws the constuction wisdom of Lang Zhong ancient city and give advises to urban planning and construction of Lang Zhong about how to adapt to the regional climate.The research finds out that the climate adaptation construction thought has been always implemented on the Lang Zhong city construction. For instance, the location of ancient city, chosen after detailed investigation about the climate characteristics sufficiently, forms a urban landscape in pattern of “mountain ring of water holding”, “hide the wind and get together gas”. The ancient city, bearing “orientated north look south”, makes full use of sun radiation, guides urban ventilation in summer through the deflected direction of the axis. In addition, the ancient city of function layout, plane form, the density of road network structure, space and so forth has taken advantege of local favorable climatic conditions as well as resisted the disadvantege to make it the best climate adaptability. Finally, combined wth nowadays urben pianning and construction of Lang Zhong, the arthor give some advices in terms of the planning value orientation tansformation as well as the planning strategy adjustment.
