| In order to adapt to the rapid economic growth as well as urban expansion, Increasing importance has been attached to the enhancement of city tunnels construction across rivers and mountains during the course of urban development. City tunnels, serving as a critical part of urban road network, tend to cause heavy traffic jams and the paralysis of road traffic due to its restriction by regional road network and great difficulties of traffic arrangements. Therefore in urban road network, city tunnels always become the traffic bottleneck.This article aims to offer systematic solutions to achieve traffic reconciliation of tunnels by carrying out the study of the coordination mechanism between ways to achieve traffic relief and practical optimization of road networks, which both serve urban traffic management of tunnels. Hereinafter are specific measures.(1) Means of realizing traffic reconciliation on common situations and precautionary plans for Emergencies have been mentioned in this article. It elucidates strategies for traffic evaluation of tunnels from varied perspectives, for example, tunnels’ functional orientation, its demand prediction and management as well as equipped regulation on regional road networks on the basis of full analysis about characteristics of urban tunnels, tunnel transportation and tunnel traffic incidents. It looks deeply into transportation management measures for urban tunnels from a micro view through transportation arrangements, designs for ramp accesses as well as proper settings on surveillance and guidance infrastructure. Additionally, scientific precautionary plans have been formulated according to three kinds of tunnel emergencies: clogging on single lane, full lanes and full tunnels. Furthermore, appropriate measures for traffic relief are to be taken in the third region in accordance to eliminate impacts brought about by these emergencies.(2) The collaborative analysis about reliability of traffic reconciliation of urban tunnels and road networks has been implemented so as to set a coordinative mechanism with analysis, feedback and optimization as its content. Thismechanism makes it possible to better assess the performance of tunnels and regional road networks, to make sure of reliability in terms of connectivity, smoothness and schedule arrangements. The assessment on reliability of urban road units, intersection and regional road networks is of great help to figure out weak sections in tunnels and regional road networks. After studying out ways to optimize topological structure and reliability of section, measures for traffic reconciliation should also be employed to reach the better state of the two subjects. In this way, the collaborative analysis is surely to be accomplished.(3) Wuhan Donghu tunnel is a typical example for optimization of tunnels in regional road networks. Reliability in terms of smoothness within tunnels in regional road networks has been increased from 34.72% to 57.29%.Namely, Regional traffic blockade has been greatly relieved and the road is basically unhindered by giving full play to the above-mentioned coordinative mechanism. |
