| It has been shown that by a large number of investigations of earthquake damage to structures, The collision of adjacent structures under earthquake action is an important factor resulting in structural damages, or even collapse of structure. Hence, it is significant to study structural pounding to ensure seismic safety of adjacent structures.Firstly, this thesis puts forward several calculation methods of seismic joint of adjacent buildings, compared with the numerical simulation results, the accuracy and validity of various calculation methods are discussed. The seismic joint of adjacent buildings in current seismic code are evaluated, in order to reduce the risk of earthquake collision between adjacent buildings, and puts forward some suggestions on the value of seismic joint.Secondly, this thesis analyses three groups of adjacent frame structures in the case of split-level and a good layer by using finite element analysis software OpenSEES. The influences of different factors of pounding, including split-level and a good layer, different seismic excitations, with and without seismic joint, are considered to investigate the responses of the structures, such as the peak displacement, story drift angle, base shear and the bending moments of collision point. Finally, this thesis studies and compares the IDA curve and the fragility curves of10-storey and 8-storey adjacent frame structures under two different conditions of with and without seismic joint. The adjacent structures with seismic joint set in accordance with seismic code on preventing the higher structure into mild and moderate failure state is very obvious, and it has also retarded to some degree in failure state of the lower structure. |
