Compared with the hydraulic oil, fresh water or seawater has some advantages such as environmental friendliness, uninflammable and easily to get on the earth, when they are used as the working medium in water hydraulic system. Recently, water hydraulics becomes much more attractive and has a quickly development. However, compared with manifold oil hydraulics components, the water hydraulic components still need to be researched and developed.The water hydraulic pressure reducing valve which was researched in this paper is a very important component for the test bench which used to test the leakage of water hydraulic annulus clearance. The max inlet pressure is 12 MPa, the max flow is 18L/min and the out setting range is 2MPa to 5.5MPa. The main work of this paper is to design the structure of the valve, make the dynamic characteristics simulation and do the performance experiment.The structure of the valve was designed based on the requirement of water hydraulic basic test system and how the pressure reducing valve works. Then the parameters of it were calculated. At last the material and processing technology were determined.In order to research the dynamic performance of this valve, the simulation was did based on the establishment of mathematic model. Then the dynamic response characteristic was optimized and simulated by AMESim and MATLAB based on the genetic algorithm. The result of it shows that the dynamic response characteristics can be improved when the flow area, the diameter of orifice and the volume of spring chamber were optimized.The prototype of three way pressure reducing valves were machined based on the results of theoretical analysis. Then the experiments were did for before and after optimization valve. The results showed that the static characteristics were essentially constant. The out range is 1.3MPa to 5.5MPa, the change of out pressure is less than 0.5%, the deviation of out pressure is about 0.7MPa when the flow of system is 18L/min. The dynamic characteristic of the optimized valve is improved significantly, of which the transient time is about 10 ms and the overshoot is about 4%. While the transient before optimization is 146.4ms and the overshoot is 11.28% when the out pressure is 2MPa.The research above has a certain theoretical and engineering significance for promoting the development and serialization of water hydraulic three way pressure reducing valve.
