Automotive transmission is a set of transmission which is used to coordinate engine speed and wheel actual traveling speed and it is one of the most important parts of automotive transmission. The performance of automotive transmission has a direct impact on the performance of other parts of the vehicle. With the continuous development of the automotive industry, the requirements of automotive transmission's performance also improved. Based on a certain type of car transmissions, this paper is trying to apply a greater load, analyze its structure and the strength of the existing transmission system and propose an improvement.Based on a certain type of car transmissions, this paper is using Pro/Engineering? ANSYS and other software to do three-dimensional modeling and finite element analysis of gear and shafting. To analysis the situation of the load which is greater than current load. The works are as follows:(1) Analysis involute helical gear, tooth root transition curve and pitch circle of the cut in the same coordinate system, we can get a precise mathematical model which made a more accurate gear tooth. Use Pro/Engineer software to do the precise parametric modeling of helical gear transmission, drive shafts and other parts synchronizer. And this article has made an accurate assembly of the various components.(2) Proposed a method to judge engagement position where gear tooth and surface can produce the maximum contact stress. And find out all the engagement point of maximum contact stress meshing of every stall. Assembly gear and transmission shaft of different stalls at this location. After simplified the model, we can use ANSYS/Workbench platform to do the finite element analysis of static exposure of helical gears. Then we can get the cloud of contact stress at different stalls. Checking the maximum contact stress of each gear to make sure it is under the allowable stress.(3) We did the finite element calculation of the tooth root bending stress of the gear. Divide the single tooth rotation angle into multiple engagement points. Assembly those gear and transmission shaft on the engagement points. According to the actual situation we make the constraints. Use finite element analysis method to get the cloud of all of the tooth root effect. Checking the maximum bending stress of each gear to make sure it is under the allowable stress.(4) Use ANSYS to do finite element static analysis of the transmission shaft at different stalls. And check fatigue life of the dangerous section of the transmission shaft.
