Aircraft panel is a important part of the shape and aerodynamic of aircraft. It plays an essential role in improving aircraft fatigue life, safety and aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft structure. As one of the most important parts in aircraft digital assembly, the hole quality is the key factor of aircraft fatigue life. The holes are still drilled by hand traditionally, which causes bad quality, low efficiency and high cost of aircraft panel drilling at home, and high cost of devices abroad and ignorance of core technologies abroad. Therefore, the developing of drilling device is essential prerequisite to improve the quality and efficiency of drilling, and ensure safety and aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft structure, also matches the needs of digital assembly of aircraft panel at home.Digital drilling of aircraft panel must be faced with some problems such as aperture accuracy, processing surface roughness, countersink depth control, normal accuracy, the hole location accuracy, removing interlayer clearance. Then, the research requirements of digital drilling system of aircraft panel are presented in this paper, after analyzing the problems of the aircraft panel drilling at home and the advanced technology of digital drilling abroad. In this paper, presents the design and research based on stating application of aircraft assembly with digital drilling system is presented. The main contents and results of this research are as follow:The drilling process and requirements of aircraft panels are presented. Then, overall structure of the system is outlined and structure, function and feature of each part of the drilling system are detailed introduced in this paper. (1) According to the structural features of aircraft panel, tooling system based on precise positioning of panel is designed, and set up the common interface, realize quick replacement, which makes positioning jig has certain flexibility. At the same time, because of considering the artificial auxiliary aircraft panel assembly, the fixed working platform and mobile work platform are designed, and from the ergonomics point of view, set up a scalable platform on the platform, flip pedals, lighting system, pneumatic pouring, etc.(2) The design of the digital drilling system main function module is illustrated in this paper.(3) In order to prove the feasibility of the end effector's control system, suitable test fixture for the end effector is designed. Did the pilot run for functional verification, in allusion to different drilling, surface pressure force and different specification of cut tool.(4) Digital drilling system has the advantages such as high automation, adaptability and integration.
