With the continuous development of economy, the energy consumption of buildings is increasing. The energy consumption of the hot water accounts for a large proportion of the total energy consumption in the building, so reducing the energy consumption of hot water is important. By consuming a small amount of high grade energy as the price, heat pump can transfer heat from low temperature heat source to high temperature heat source. Combining solar energy and heat pump to the hot water system can guarantee the hot system more efficient and reliable opreation.On the basis of traditional solar assisted heat pump hot water system, a solar assisted water source heat pump(SAWSHP) hot water system and a solar assisted ground source heat pump(SAGSHP) hot water system were designed for a residential building in Xi'an.The design and calculation method of the system, the operation mode of the system and control measures of the system under different working conditions were introduced in detail. Multi operating mode system can not only improve the stability of the hot water system, but also can make full use of solar energy.With TRNSYS software as a platform, these two hot water systems were modeled.According to the efficiency of the solar collector, the heat collected of solar collector and the COP of systems were analyzed. According to the results of the analysis, the hot water temperature and the hot water flowrate of these two hot water systems can meet the requirements under Xi'an weather conditions. The annual average efficiency of collector of solar assisted water source heat pump hot water system is 0.47, the annual average solar fraction of system is 0.45, the annual energy consumption of system is 44960.88MJ; the annual average efficiency of collector of solar assisted ground source heat pump hot water system is 0.49, the annual average solar fraction of system is 0.49, the annual energy consumption of system is 41475.9MJ. So it can be concluded that the solar assisted ground source heat pump hot water system is more suitable for Xi'an area.In the last part of this paper, the initial investment and operating cost of the solar assisted ground source heat pump hot water system and the traditional boiler hot water systems were analyzed. The results showed that: compared with the traditional boiler hot water system, the solar assisted ground source heat pump hot water system can save8827.28 RMB annually, the system's dynamic investment recovery period is 5.45 years,and the annual less emissions of CO2 is 100.05 tons, its economic benefits and environmental benefits are significant.
