During my internship in the power plant, to participate in the power plant renovation project of condenser vacuum system installing roots-water ring pumps. The roots pump has many advantages, such as a simple structure, easy installation and maintenance, stable. It widely used in energy, chemical, medical, but it rarely used in vacuum system of power plant condenser. However, the internal flow of Roots pump is complex, the current domestic study of roots pump generally by the experiment and comparison and less the study of the internal flow.In this article, the finite element model of roots pump was established based on the actual structure. Adopting the numerical simulation method, the internal flow field of roots pump was analyzed by fluid dynamics analysis software. The internal pressure, speed, and pulsation curve of import and export flow were obtained after analyzing. Then the accuracy and reliability of the research method for the internal flow field in roots pump was verified, the results of two methods were compared. The results show that, the two methods can give the same results, which provides a reliable platform of further analysis for the research on the internal flow condition in roots pump.The roots pump model for structural optimization, using the numerical calculation methods, getting the influence of counter flow cooling port for internal flow of roots pump,and the import and export gas. Analyze the performance of roots pump in different speeds, the results show that, Reasonable speed can reduce the power consumption of the roots pump,improve work efficiency.Analyze the impact on the unit economy after the vacuums system reformed. Combined with the transformation of the power plant in the actual situation, take into account various factors such as design, manufacture and installation, put forward feasible improvements.Calculated optimized modified can bring 78.67 million Yuan each year for the power plant..
