Study On Bursting Disc Cascaded With Fusible Plug Device’s Applicability Used On The Long Tube Trailer

Safety relief device is one of the safety accessories to prevent pressure vessel from overpressure, which’s security and features are vital. Bursting disc cascaded with fusible plug is a new type and practical safety relief device used on the long tube trailer. The safety relief device should timely action to discharge pressure in case of emergency such as fire when it’s used on the long tube trailer.The applicability of safety relief device-bursting disc cascaded with fusible plug on the long tube trailer is studied in this paper. The test platform of safety relief device was set and the safety relief device’s performance parameters were got based on a series of tests on the test platform in this paper. The CFD software FLUENT was used to obtain the information about thermal response of cylinders in case of fire. The temperature fields and heat flux distributions under the fire environment of gas cylinder were obtained. Combined with a series of experiments on testing platform of bursting disc-fusible plug device, the safety and applicability of device under the fire environment on the long tube trailer was evaluated.Main research contents and achievements of this work are as follows:(1)Based on the type of the bursting disc cascaded with fusible plug device, the test platform of safety relief device was set and the safety relief device’s performance parameters were got based on a series of tests on the test platform, including air tightness and normal action parameters. The parameters have provided the basis for judgment when the combined safety relief device was used on the long tube trailer.(2) The common gas cylinders and long tube trailer gas cylinders were used as the research objects. The physical models of these two kinds of cylinders were established, and the CFD software FLUENT was used to obtain the information about thermal response of cylinders in case of fire. The temperature fields and heat flux distributions under the fire environment of gas cylinder were obtained, and the relationships of gas cylinders temperature and internal pressure changing with time were also obtained.(3) Combined with a series of experiments on testing platform of bursting disc-fusible plug device, the safety and applicability of device under the fire environment on the long tube trailer was evaluated. Results showed that the fusible plug would act first in case of fire when safety relief device was used on the two different types of cylinders, then the bursting disc act after the pressure in cylinders was high enough to blasting, the applicability and safety of safety relief device can be guaranteed used on the long tube trailer.
