The inverse Y-shaped retaining wall is a new type of light retaining wall,It has many advantages, like better anti-dumping and sliding stability, lower requirements of foundation bearing capacity, smaller sectional dimensions and so on.But now, there are few studies about it,and the most studies have concentrated on highway engineering.Combined the construction of Naxigou wharf and used finite element analysis,it has been studied the characteristic of inverse Y-shaped retaining wall and used in inland wharf in this paper. The main results and conclusion are as follows:1.The finite element analysis shows that there are two dangerous sections of the walls, produced the maximum compressive stress and shear stress between arms and toe slab, the maximum tensile stress between toe slab and backpart of the wall.2.The finite element analysis shows that the earth pressure behind the wall along arms is linear distribution, but from the bottom of arms to the footholds of the backpart of the wall, the earth pressure increases rapidly at first and then decreases slowly, which is non-linear distributed, and its value is greater than the Rankine earth pressure value.3.Using the method of stress reinforcement to calculate reinforcement, and through structural and economic comparison, there is a conclusion that the optimal heights is 6 meters in line D and 8 meters in line A.The optimal height retaining wall shows flex stiffness of horizontal direction is small, stiffness of vertical direction is big and there are three weakness positions by the seismic analysis.4.According to the finite element analysis results of the actual engineering,it has been proposed an improved inverse Y-shaped retaining wall used in inland wharf. It has better mechanical performance than the usual inverse Y-shaped retaining wall. Then it used the finite element software to analyze the parameter related to the section and obtained the relationship between the parameter and the mechanical performance of the walls.
